Berkshire Children & Families is proud to support the community of western Massachusetts musicians. We continually seek local talent to fulfill the position of Teaching Artist for our Kids 4 Harmony El Sistema program. Our Teaching Artist positions are designed for instrumental musicians who are passionate about music and have a belief in the arts as a vehicle for positive social change. Teaching Artists will lead group music lessons for school aged children with a focus on ensemble playing. Ability to inspire, work with, and mentor children and teens a must! Teaching Artist Position Summery/Overview:The teaching artist will lead group music lessons for school aged children which will focus on ensemble playing in addition to age appropriate skills development for young musicians. The teaching artist will work to inspire and motivate children and youth to participate to their fullest potential.
Hours: Kids 4 Harmony program hours run between 3-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday
Qualifications:
-Passion for music and a belief in the arts as a vehicle for positive social change
-Strong knowledge of standard music pedagogy
-Excellent musicianship and demonstrated skills as a music educator/performer
-Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to work in a team
-Ability to adapt and be flexible
-Ability to inspire, work with, and mentor kids and teens
-Experience leading and conducting ensembles
-Strong knowledge of music education curriculum and methodologies
-Experience working in underserved communities
